My Story

My name is Roxy, I'm 21 years old, and I have rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), is an autoimmune disease that makes my joints inflamed/achy/stiff. It might seem a little crazy that I'm 21 and have RA, isn't arthritis an old person thing? Trust me, I was surprised, too. If you Google it (like I have an embarrassing amount of times), doctors say that it's a progressive disease with no cure, meaning it really only gets worse and there's nothing I can do about it. As any autoimmune disease, my body is attacking itself and destroying healthy tissue, specifically in my joints. (For more detailed information about autoimmune diseases, I recommend Robb Wolf's insight.) In its worst cases, RA can cause immobility and deformation.. how lovely, right? Immediately after I got my blood work from the doc, I called my boyfriend and told him the news that I considered to be a death sentence. My saving grace of a man is what I'd consider a health/fitness buff. He instantly sent me links to articles and blogs about people who have overcome RA (and other various autoimmune diseases) by changing their diet. In hopes of having the same luck, I've decided to try out a Paleolithic Autoimmunity Protocol diet. That sounds like a mouthful, but I break it down here.
I'm not only writing this as a record for myself but also to help other people out there like me. I believe in the power of nutrition and have been having seeing results already.
